Wall-Mounted ABB VFD Upgrade at Interloop Limited

Interloop Limited, a leading global textile manufacturer based in Pakistan, teamed up with Dominar Engineers to enhance the control of their motor-driven systems. We implemented a series of wall-mounted ABB Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to boost operational efficiency and modernize electrical infrastructure.

The project included three ABB ACH580-class VFDs rated at 37 kW, 45 kW, and 55 kW (380–480 V AC, 3‑phase), selected for their precision speed control, robust build, and seamless integration into existing automation networks. The ACH580 series is renowned for its energy-saving features, user-friendly commissioning, built-in safety, and compatibility with HVAC and pump systems .

These drives allow precise adjustment of motor speed to match real-time load requirements, significantly reducing power use during off-peak periods. Their advanced control features, such as sensorless vector control and integrated “safe torque off,” protect both personnel and machinery . The wall-mounted design and IP21 rating ensure space-efficient installation in Interloop’s utility rooms while supporting temperatures up to 50 °C with reliable operation.

By incorporating ABB’s ACH580 drives, Interloop Limited achieved smoother motor startup, reduced energy consumption, and enhanced compatibility with their Building Automation System (BAS)  laying the groundwork for future system scalability and smart factory initiatives.
